After a few hectic weeks of moving into the new office and getting our systems online, I am excited to announce that http://milnelaw.com is live!
I wouldn’t have been able to get this far without the constant support of my friends, family, and colleagues in the Brampton area. The openness and generosity of the Brampton community is a huge part of the reason that Milne Law’s opening has gone so smoothly, and I am grateful for all of the support that I have received. I look forward to giving back to the Brampton community in the coming months.
I founded Milne Law to help real people manage through difficult times. My hope is that the information contained on this site will help you navigate through the mess of legal information available on the web, and to hopefully address some interesting legal issues.
Most people have only a passing involvement with the legal system. Many go their entire lives without ever being involved with the courts. When you are involved in a court action for the first time, it is easy to act impulsively and make costly (and avoidable) mistakes.
Retaining a lawyer will always be the best way to tackle your legal problem, and this blog is no replacement for qualified legal advice.
However, legal services can be expensive, and not everyone can afford the luxury of calling a private lawyer to address every issue they have. I often find that people don’t know when they should be seeking legal advice. Often, people don’t know they have a potential legal issue at all. Other times, people delay seeking legal advice, often resulting in simple problems snowballing into large, expensive matters. Many lawsuits are completely avoidable if early enough action were taken by the Parties to resolve the underlying issues.
Lawyers have trained for years to pick legal issues and fit them into our existing conceptual framework (accounting for factors like cost, delay, and risk) to get to a practical solution to the client’s problem. This is often considered the most important skill of any lawyer, and takes years of practice to hone. It is not something that can be done with a simple Google search without risking serious personal consequences.
My hope is that this blog will raise your awareness of your rights and obligations, and help you make an informed decision about your matter right off the bat.
Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy your stay.
